While summer is waving goodbye to us, the strong sun is still out there. I haven’t been completely aware of how damaging sun rays can be for both…
Hello there Autumn lovers or soon to be Autumn lovers after you read this post 😉
I’m feeling incredibly inspired by the weather, rain and the lit candles all around my house, as this year, I really went the extra mile with making everything look Autumnal. If you’re the type of person who loves decorating her home or like to admire decors in other people’s places, this post is definitely for you. By the end of it, I want you to walk away inspired to decorate your home and feel more positive about Autumn (and life in general). Let’s go through this little DYI that I have prepared for you, shall we?
There are so many ways in which you can embrace the season, but today I’m going to show you how to create this very beautiful and amazingly scented table decoration! Ah, it makes me so happy every time I look at it or walk past it. It’s the perfect way to embrace Autumn: looking at its colours right in your living room while reading a good book while wrapped in a cozy blanket.
What you’ll need:
- A plate or tray
- A large candle jar
- Some small candles
- Dry oranges, small peppers and cinnamon sticks
- Dry leafs (picked up from outside)
- A small pumpkin
- Take your plate and set the dry oranges, peppers and cinnamon sticks.
I’ve found this cute pack at a local farm in Surrey, but I’m sure that you can dry your own oranges and place some cinnamon sticks that you can find in your kitchen. Don’t worry about making it look perfect at this point.
2. Pick up some nice coloured leafs and place them on the plate above the dried oranges
I picked this beautiful one up when I was coming back from town on no special occasion. Next time you’re out and about, remember to pick some nice leafs on your way back home. You can always find fun ways to display them in your home and for this decoration leafs are just perfect.
3. Add a large candle jar
If you’re feeling extra (as you should this season), go for a Halloween themed scented candle. It will make your table decoration even more Autumnal! I was so happy to find this Yankee Candle Limited Edition Witches’ Brew on Notino at only £20.59. It has a woody fragrance and make your living room smell like you’re about to create a spooky spell. Not to mention, the name got me hooked!
4. Place a small pumpkin on the plate for a really Autumnal vibe
I picked this pretty baby while pumpkin picking in Surrey, but any pumpkin will do. You can find some at your local market or even pick your own (I can guarantee it’s so much fun).
5. Lastly, add some small candles
I’m in love with the Yankee candles the baby edition! I’m getting bored quite easily by candle scents, so lighting them in small amounts is what I prefer to do. They smell amazing, just like a chill day of Autumn. My absolute favourite is the Yankee Candle Autumn Glow (only £2.34 on Notino) which smells rather sweet. If you prefer a stronger scent, then the Yankee Candle Autumn Night is perfect for you. For my cinnamon fans, the Yankee Candle Cinnamon Stick is great for the end of month, when we’re starting to think about Christmas! These last for longer than you might think, however you need to be careful as they tend to melt and drip. Just use a special plate when you decide to light one to avoid mess.
And you’re done! I hope you’re excited to have this beautiful table decoration around your house. Feel positive and embrace this wonderful season.
Ah, I almost forgot. I’m such a skincare addict and in Autumn/Winter I tend to switch to hydrating and moisturising products. My hero product this month is the Vichy Minéral 89. The serum is absorbed quickly into my skin, without leaving it sticky. It feels really moisturising! I’ve always felt that a hydrating serum is such a must for the cold season. Plus, how can you resist this beautiful packaging?
Let me know in the comments below, are you excited to try out the DYI?
