Animal Print Origins
Just as stuffed animals were kept as trophies, royalties used to also decorate their palaces and castles with animal printed rugs as a sign of high status. Regarded as exotic, during the Bohemian Movement in the States in the 60’s, the animal print became highly popular among women.
Wearing animal prints in Autumn 2018
For me, animal prints have a fine line that is easy to cross. A printed leopard coat can look tacky, just as a cheetah printed dress can be too much! It’s true, the origin of the print comes from the gypsies where everything is extravagant. As cool as it had been in the past, nowadays an adaptation of the style is what’s trending. Now that we know the things to avoid, let’s get into picking up the perfect colour scheme and prints.
Choose One Animal Printed Item
You might love a lot of animal printed items – belts, scarves, shoes, dresses, blazers. That’s great! It’s key to limit yourself at wearing one printed item per outfit. I find the Zebra print the best of all – it’s the one far from looking cheap. In this outfit, I have chosen the Zebra scarf to be the star of the show. I’ve always had a passion for scarves, I own them in every colour possible … and in a couple of prints.
Animal Prints and how to wear them
Once you have decided on the print, it’s time to choose your colour scheme. If you choose a Zebra print, then your go-to colour pallet should be black and white as primary colours. If you’re loving a leopard one, then a nude colour scheme is your best friend. This theory is pretty easy to follow, and it will save you a lot of time. Besides, you’ll put together more stylish outfits. And.. we all want to be stylish, don’t we?
I have opted for a classic Autumn outfit as you can see: black jeans, scarf, sun glasses and wedges. I love it because it’s suitable for more occasions: work, drinks out, a nice dinner. That’s my dear readers, the definition of the stylish modern women who doesn’t need to change 3 times a day for different occasions. I imagine myself jumping from the tube to a business meeting and then having drinks on the London’s best rooftop – all these while dressed in the same outfit.
What’s your opinion on animal prints? Do you believe in the fashion concept of the modern woman I described?
I hope you got inspired by the autumn trends 2018 and how to wear them best! 💋
Until next time,
