Although we shouldn’t go out and about at the moment, we can still plan our favourite outfits in our minds and wear them indoors or when we’re running round the corner to the shops. The biggest 12 Spring/Summer 2020 trends this season made me fall back in love with floral dresses, polka dots, power suits and high shoulders. These styles are so versatile, they’ll make you want to wear everything at once!

Spring/Summer 2020 Trend 1: The Power of Print

The Flower Power are calling and they really want their prints back! This season, the patterns are quite soft – they’re not as loud and as supra-dimensional as I would like them to be, but they have something special & unique about them for sure. The tones are earthy & they’re waiting to be paired with some sexy sandals.

Spring/Summer 2020 Trend 2: Colour Splash

Loud colours are back: bright reds, yellow, green, orange and shades of pink. My personal favourite? This orange Zara suit has my heart. Pair them with beautiful pumps or high heeled sandals and get ready to rock the city streets or the office.

Spring/Summer 2020 Trend 3: Polka Dot Moments

Polka dots are in the spotlight this season and if you remember the Zara dress that made the headlines in 2019, I’m sure you’re not even a tiny bit surprised. Have fun with this trend, mix bigger polka dots on your top with small ones on your skirt or the other way around.

Spring/Summer 2020 Trend 4: Leather Time

Leather is always around in style somehow – by that I’m mainly referring to the faux leather fabrics made so popular by fashion mansions and loads of influencers on Instagram. I don’t know about you, but I’m a massive fan of leather shorts / skirts and biker jackets! Let’s rock these this season.

Spring/Summer 2020 Trend 5: Enter the boot camp

Soldier boots anyone? This season we see the reinvention of the boot, mixed with feminine dresses and skirts. Keeping a balance, right? As far as I’m concerned, I love to adapt a rock style & sexy style all together, rather than having a very feminine dress on mixed with boots. It might be not very suitable for myself, I enjoy more of a consistency of the look. Give me boots in any shape or form at ANYTIME!

Spring/Summer 2020 Trend 6: Safari Trip

If you’ve never been on a real safari, this season will give you all the inspo you need to go on one. The textures are varied from matt to more shiny, from harder fabrics to flowy. There’s literally something for the pickiest of fashion lovers. For me, matt shirt in forest green would always be the winner.

.

Spring/Summer 2020 Trend 7: Pastel O’Clock

Pastels are in this season as every Spring. However, we can see a certain emphasis on lilac and yellow. The question is will you be meeting the girls for brunch in a pastel suit?

Spring/Summer 2020 Trend 8: Sheer Romance

Both sexy and quite tricky to wear, sheer fabrics made a comeback this season. Adapt them to everyday life by wearing silk tops underneath. Keep the sheer mystery.

Spring/Summer 2020 Trend 9: Whites Are Still In

White dresses, skirts, jumpsuits, long trousers – ah the wonderful world of cotton or silk in white. An absolute summer dream. Say ‘yes’ to pure beauty and wear all white this summer when you take long walks on the beach or ride a vespa on the Italian coast.

Spring/Summer 2020 Trend 10: Broderie Anglaise Anyone?

Take me to Monaco wearing broderie anglaise and I would be the happiest. There’s something so luxurious about this lace that I can’t say no to. I haven’t found the perfect top for me just yet, but trust me I’m on the hunt.

Spring/Summer 2020 Trend 11: Accentuated Waist

If you haven’t been accentuating your waist, then it’s the perfect time to start. Wide belts are very in, but don’t think that a narrower belt can’t do the trick. In styling, it’s all about creating a certain silhouette and this is the oldest and probably easiest trick to do so.

Spring/Summer 2020 Trend 12: Baby Girl Pinks

All shades of pink are allowed this season, but especially baby pinks. Have fun with this colour and adapt it to your own style. I’m super happy to see this trend and already have some ideas on putting together the cutest outfits.

These were the biggest 12 Spring/Summer 2020 trends this season that I’ve been loving so far. Be bold & happy to try new trends only if these really represent who you are and your style. Have fun with fashion, after all it’s a form of creativity and self-expression.

Until next time,

You’re probably looking at your screen thinking ‘not another shopping related post’. If you’ve been following my blog for a while now, you probably know that I’m not constantly shopping for new items, but sometimes I think having something new feels good. At the moment, I only buy clothes that are unique and look interesting to me. It’s all in the details, babe, because quite frankly and luckily enough, I don’t need anything else as I’m sure most girls don’t actually need to splurge on fashion every week. A few weeks ago, knowing that my shoe collection wasn’t as strong on the summer side, I’ve decided to get a few pairs (at once), but also get some accessories as well while I was at it. Here we are now, we’re looking at the current must haves for Summer 2019!

With its beautiful colours, blooming flowers, warm weather and endless outfit possibilities, summer is making its way to the United Kingdom. As the Brits love the sun (and not only) just as much as the bees love pollen, you can expect lots of good vibes on the streets and a fashion freedom that sometimes can be taken to the extremes. I’ve taken a step back from the long pattern dresses and midi skirts that are trending right now, making girls look like farm keepers (everyone is really free to wear whatever, but this trend is not for me). If you’re done with that look, I’m proposing you a summer outfit that you have to try out now by using clothes you already have in your wardrobe!

Search your wardrobe for work shirts

We all have shirts that we wear to business meetings or more corporate events (do you love this word too?) and it would be a fashion waste not to wear them outside work, obviously styled in a different way. Buttons up is not compulsory, so you can show off a shoulder or both to make the blouse look more casual. Simply unbutton the upper part of your shirt enough so you feel comfortable with it on your shoulder/s and tie a knot at the bottom.

Last summer’s favourite shorts

Remember your favourite shorts from last summer? Pull them out of the bag and pair them with your just styled shirt. Go for white shorts: they’ll give you a more stylish vibe. It took me a while to start wearing white, so if you’re having second thoughts it’s completely understood. However, know this: white is addictive. Soon after I started buying white white and white items.

Your Elegant Flats

As you’re wearing a business casual shirt, go for elegant flats instead of your beloved converses. I’ve found this gem of a pair in an outlet in Bordeaux and fallen in love immediately with its front bow detail. If you happen to have some elegant flats that you think will go well in this combination, why not wear them instead buying a new pair? I’ve however linked at the end of the article similar items just in case.

Bling Bling

Oh, hello shiny earrings! It can be argued that this pair of earrings is suitable for evening wear. I say, just have fun with it and incorporate some elegant (colourful) earrings into this outfit because the flats and shirt really allow for it. It’s summer – fashion rules still apply, but we can be more flexible, can’t we? Statement earrings are the way this summer.

Straw bags

Straw bags have been a hit last summer – glossy magazines shown them in all shapes and sizes & fashion websites and fashion bloggers were vowing for them too. I recently got my first one and indeed they’re so cute to wear. Let’s enjoy summer friendly accessories while we still can. Just be careful with your valuable items inside the bag – usually these bags don’t come with a zip.

Lots Of Love,

NotAGirlyGal

Hello my lovelies,

I’m always on the hunt of outfits I can create with different pieces of clothes I can find in my wardrobe. It’s really rare when I do a big shop of items because luckily enough, I do own a considerable amount of clothes. However, this doesn’t mean I don’t love shopping and getting new stuff in (we all do to be fair), but I’ve managed to find my balance. With that being said, today I’m going to create my own co-ord while exploring the beautiful streets of Bodreaux. Come join me in the most French town, outside Paris.

The first thing to consider when creating your co-ord is the fabric of the two pieces. Are they the same type? If they’re not, do they look amazing together? It’s really important that they create a stunning unit. Otherwise, your outfit will not look like a co-ord. Other than that, as a general ‘rule’ co-ords do have a specific detail – either on the sleeves or the pants, like shown in the pictures below.

For my outfit, I have chosen this a Zara blouse/jacket and a pair of black Calvin Klein  trousers made out of a less tick fabric and they blend with the top really well. Your next goal now is to look out for clothes that have some nice details – in my case, we have the beautiful embroidery on the top.

how to create your own co-ord.jpg

These are the two simple ‘rules’ you need to follow when creating your own co-ord: matching fabrics and ensure you have some stunning details going on. This outfit is perfect for your city breaks this Spring. I’ve visited Bordeaux while wearing this outfit: it was so easy to walk around the city in it, but also my Instagram pictures turned out amazing! Make sure you follow me at @notagirlygal for updates on outfits, women empowerment posts & real life Insta stories (my absolute faves).

My Top Three Things to Do in Bordeaux

Have your morning coffee and dessert at Boulangerie Hotel de Ville.

The Capuccino is spot on and the cakes are absolutely delicious! The decor inside is really traditional and it took me back to old France. You’ll love it there.

Visit Marche de Capucins (Food Market) and eat a Sea Food ‘Boat’

This is a boat for one person – it includes oysters, shells, homar & shrimps. I loved this meal so much, I’m sure I’ll remember the experience I had while visiting the market. The place was clean and everything was beautifully decorated.

Take the train 50 min and visit Arcachon

Top Three Things to Do in Bordeaux Arcachon NotAGirlyGal.jpg

Visit Arcachon, the Ocean resort next to Bordeaux. I went on a boat trip and it was so much fun (I should have brought a jacket because I caught a cold afterwards, but the views were worth it haha). Watch the sunset to end the day in the most beautiful way.

Where are you travelling to this summer and will you wear co-ords? 🙂

Oh, beautiful France! I’ve just returned from an impromptu visit to Bordeaux and I had an absolute amazing time from sipping coffee on pretty terraces, observing people’s fashion, enjoying the so popular red wine (in its traditional town) to creating content for my blog and social channels. While packing my luggage, I’ve came across different styles of wearing blazers this season and decided I have to try this particular one out! Let’s find out how to best wear your blazers and jeans this season.

Hourglass shaped body?

What I like to do, especially with black blazers is to create a perfect hourglass body shape by wearing a narrow belt around my waist. I don’t normally have a preference when it comes to where the belt is positioned, but in this combination, you want to make sure that the belt is tight enough on your waist (don’t wear this for a bottomless Prosecco brunch though) to create that hourglass shape. When it comes to the perfect belts, my favourite brand is by far Mango – their quality is amazing, although sometimes I might look out for belts in Zara too.

how to wear jeans and blazers missandrada notagirlygal.jpg

Where to wear Blazers & Jeans

Depending of where you plan to wear this outfit to, you can choose to wear a black top underneath or a hidden bra for a sexier look. I went for a top underneath my blazer (find similar here) as I was going for a wine tasting and it felt more appropriate for the occasion. I would probably go for the other option on a different occasion such as cocktail party or a rooftop event at night. If you’re visiting Bordeaux, you can’t miss the stunning Wine Museum – expect a history rich experience and some delicious wine too. The views from there are simply breathtaking, so I would definitely recommend to bring your camera to take some pictures for the ‘gram – just avoid the crowds because as you can imagine everyone is looking for getting the best shot.

how to wear blazers and jeans notagirlygal missandrada

Now, I’m not the biggest fan of jeans to be honest, but somehow a pair of skinny jeans (find similar here) makes this look really stylish; while a pair of black trousers could potentially ‘destroy’ the look. Just have fun with the items you already have in your wardrobe and come up with a few alternative looks: try checked blazers and jeans or white blazers paired with pale pink jeans!

As I know you love a special occasion to celebrate, it’s English Wine Week! There a few cool options on Virgin Experience Days or Groupon such as Cheese & Wine Tasting Experiences or Countryside Vineyard tours that you can absolutely make the most out of. And no this is not sponsored, I just believe that the outfit can definitely go with the options above and might inspire you to do something different as I’m always on the hunt for unique experiences.

It’s time for a closet tour to create this look – tag me @notagirlygal in your Instagram posts while wearing your take on this outfit, I would love to connect with you.

Until next time,

As I was mentioning in my 2019 Peachy Spring Make-up, this Spring I’m not so into pastels. It feels too 2018 for me; you might not feel the same way and it’s really okay. I mean, we all wear whatever makes us feel awesome, but today I really want to show you ONE amazing trend that I absolutely love: MILITARY inspired clothing. Keep on reading and turn the runway into your own outfits! BE aware: this is not your usual Spring outfit.

We can see beautiful textures, worn in different combinations for this Spring. Fashion Houses such as Alberta Ferretti, Fendi and Givenchy released their military inspired collections and all I have to say is that I’m deeply in love with the concept. That’s a proper Not A Girly staple: bold & fearless. Let’s break down this trend and adapt it to our own everyday looks, shall we? 💥

Add different textures to your outfit

One 2019 Spring Trend You Have to Try Now! NotAGirlyGal

I realised this quite recently actually, but adding different textures can take your outfits to the next level. In the military case, you’re looking for a dress or a co-ord that can be accessorised easily. By that I mean wear a belt or jacket on top that’s made out of a different fabric.

I chose a khaki safari dress (find similar here or here) that looks amazing on tanned olive skin. There are loads of options online, you can even type ‘utility dress’ and browse from different pieces. It’s definitely a must have for Spring-Summer!

Make your outfit RUNWAY READY

It’s time to make your outfit look a lot more stylish and turn it into a wearable runway outfit. The easiest way you can do that is to put a cool jacket on top of your dress! I browsed the online stores and found this jacket with pockets for you – it doesn’t have those crazy colours on the back as mine, but I’m sure it will look amazing regardless.

Last details

Add your last details to make your look pop! I’m in LOVE with stylish & high quality sunglasses – the type that makes your look really chic. This Weekend MVTM pair looks gorgeous in the Khaki combination, especially because their reflection turns dark green at times. Wear a watch that is neat and can easily compliment your outfit as you have a lot going on already. This unique design of the Jaded Rose MVTM watch is simply beautiful and it’s made it in my watch top already! This brand is so popular on Instagram and it’s gaining so much momentum because their products have such a good quality! Use the code NOTAGIRLYGAL15 for 15% off when you shop on the MVTM website.

The wonders of London Fashion Week. By day 2 my feet were hurting like never before. What have I done? I was asking myself. I stuck my foot in that stiletto boot because I wanted to be on time for my first show the night before. My toes were so numb the next day – my body was feeling just a bit tired, but I really wanted to do Day 2. I’ve put on some natural make-up, my Fenty Pumas and walked out my door. Keep on reading to find out exactly what to wear to make the most of this week!

What to wear at London Fashion Week

In terms of what to actually wear the events, I highly recommend shoes that you can walk around in, queue in and most importantly feel just a bit comfortable in (cause we all know high heeled comfortable shoes are just so hard to find).  I chose to wear my Pumas in day 2 because my feet were killing me (I had my toes numb for 2-3 weeks after just 4 hours in heels the day before). You can opt for boots, pumas, low heeled sandals or even high heels if you’re convinced they are bearable.

Depending on the event’s nature, you can decide whether you want your outfit to be casual chic or a bit more elegant. I am not the type of person to be walking around in a wedding attendant’s dress, so please don’t go overboard! I’ve seen it all! Below is the outfit that I wore during day 2 and it got a lot of people noticing it and loving it – it fully represents me. Always go for something that represents you: remember that you’re not there to adhere to a dress code, but rather to express yourself and network with people just like you. That’s how you do proper networking and actually enjoy the day; just put your best self forward and approach people next to you.

What to wear at London Fashion Week

Hair and make-up? Whatever makes you happy 🙂

Do have a look at Day 1 outfit and get a closer look at what can go or not during LFW.

Let’s see how Day 2 went by, shall we? I regrouped with my lovely Saffy and some cool girls we met the day before and started the day! That’s what I love about Fashion Week – you get to know people once and throughout the days, you keep bumping into them. It’s just great – you know how much I love chatting over champagne or cocktails!

First Stop: The Rohmir SS19 Show

Ah the goose bumps because of the amazing ballet on French music! When Si tu n’existe pas started my mood was lifted: I was so happy to watch their performance. I was already in a good mood when the models started the catwalk. My favourite outfit? I can’t pick one! I was in love with the big gowns & crowns and the over-sized knots over tops.

The colour palette was a mix of nude colours and browns, but also quite contrasting, the models were wearing baby pink and bright navy blue. I feel like navy blue was super popular on the cat walks. I think I saw it more than black! Can you imagine? What made a statement in her shows were also the hair and make-up.

Rosella May Presentation

A casual vibe was dominating the room – models were taking instant pictures and casually walking to the bar to get refreshments. It was almost a feeling of interacting with the actors in their break. The models kept things professional and did an amazing job in introducing us to the vibes.

White was dominant in Rosella May’s showcase. The splashes of paints had an amazing impact on the clothes. It was almost like breaking the pattern and adding a layer of fun to the casual clothes. The collection made me get myself a pair of dungarees – my first pair actually as I never worn one – funny right?

I loved how the make-up was complementing the colour splashes I talked to you about. It made me see the art behind this collection.

The presentation was very well thought through – the picture wall was amazing because it was interactive; fresh pictures taken on camera were pinned to the wall which I found super original.

No meetings on the calendar, no events you need to attend but the one that you organise for yourself: a relaxing day where you do just what you want! I recently had one of those and I picked to attend the London Cocktail festival, eat Italian and spend some time at the cool bars at the Shard. For that day I wore something else, but for days when I just have a walk or enjoy my time outside, I have my favourite outfit that I will share with you today. So, what should you wear to make the best out of your casual day?

Shape the season in style

It’s not huge news that everyone goes wild on layering in Autumn. Whilst I feel that layering is important and gives that umpf to your outfit (yes, umpf), I like to keep the layering to a minimum on casual days. Two layers is enough for me to feel like I’m in control of my outfit and nothing will be falling off. Do you ever have that feeling that your three-layer outfit looks good only if you wear it in three layers? What I mean by this is: if I decide to lose one layer during the day because it’s too warm, I feel I destroyed the whole concept. Rest assured, that doesn’t mean I don’t wear layers but I’m just more cautious with it; that type of making sure the outfit is still looking snatched. Take your wardrobe on the layering adventure in times when you’re feeling up for it.

What to wear on a casual day?

Nothing says casual more than a vintage denim shirt! Don’t you think so? It says: I’m relaxed, but super pretty. Taken from a charity shop three years ago, this shirt is my number one love for casual days. So, shop the thrift shops for goodies that last.

Miss Andrada What to wear on a casual day

Obviously if going for a walk you need something comfy on top of that; as I’m not a massive fan of hoodies and the only one I own is a university branded one, I opted for a vest. It’s my shepherd vest which I love to bits. If anyone has a comment, I just say ‘I’m a shepherd’ and it makes people laugh. Fashion is fun and it’s all about embracing what you love to wear. I would recommend you to be confident and take a stand for the things you want to wear even though they might seem unusual to people. Who cares? It’s you who wears the clothes and if you decide to be fun, then be it.

Miss Andrada What to wear on a casual day

Consider the fact that if you do quite a bit of walking, your shoes need to comply to the standards. I live in my boots and you know it, but whatever is comfy for you but also makes you feel put together, it’s worth wearing. I’ll let you choose trainers for this – I think it’s the only occasion when I think you can get away with it, besides the gym.

Accessories wise, just keep them to a minimum if you’re looking for comfort. A watch that compliments the outfit and has that ‘borrowed from the boys’ look will make your appearance relaxed, but also stylish. The Obaku Viol Granite watch gives me that feeling of I didn’t put too much effort into looking amazing, but I do. It’s that Swedish minimalist design that makes me absolutely love wearing it.

obaku viol

I hope this outfit gave you a quick look into a casual chic outfit for a day out and about. It was mental health awareness day and I believe the best way of celebrating it is to take time for yourself. A relaxed day where you plan to do exactly what you absolutely love doing is the perfect escape from things that stress us every day. Now that you have the right outfit for it, what are you waiting for?

Hello there,

Choosing your cream trench coat means that you’ll spend a bit of time researching magazines, fashion blogs and perhaps Instagram. I’ll spare you the search. Either you’re getting your Autumn outfits ready for the season or you’re getting your hands on pieces that will make a statement for you this season, this post will show you how to choose your statement trench coat which is a must-have for me.

  1. Look at the overall appearance of the trench

I’ve seen different types of coats. The fabric can either ‘make or break’ a coat. Make sure your fabric looks of high-quality and it’s thick enough. Waterproof material is an added plus of course, especially if you live in London. Stay away from sheer fabric because not only it won’t keep you warm, but it will look cheap.

TIP: Try the coat on and if it feels heavy, then that’s the one you want.

Choosing your cream trench coat autumn trends

  1. Decide on a good length for you

Depending on where you want your cream coat to fall, you want to make sure the length is good for your height. For me, I wanted it to be really long as almost all my outdoor wear is shorter. If you’re looking for a long one too, just make sure your boots can be seen, otherwise you’ll look short.

TIP: Don’t try it on with high heels unless you’re only going to wear it with high heels.

Choosing your cream trench coat autumn trends

  1. Look out for features that make it special

Now, the fun part! You want to make a statement – pick items that have cool features. The feature that makes this cream coat stand out is the sleeve detail. Some coats can have badges or stickers. Others can have a cool chain on the top part. It’s up to your personal preference here.

TIP: Look for your coat in unique places such as clothes markets or even vintage stores. Gems are hiding there. That’s how I found mine.

Choosing your cream trench coat autumn trends

  1. Add a leather belt

Replace the boring strap with a brown leather belt. The belt will give your coat a nice proportion – tight on your waist and loose on the bottom. You will look impeccable!

TIP: Choose a medium width belt. Too narrow – it won’t have the desired effect; too wide – it will be too much.

Choosing your cream trench coat autumn trends

I hope I helped you in choosing your cream statement coat for Autumn. I just wanted to ask you: How many coats do you have for the season and which one is your favourite from your personal collection?

Lots of love,

cropped-15109541_1346191695414778_2346682693149712455_n-813215180-1504726673550.jpg

When the pumpkin latte arrives at Starbucks, that’s how you know it’s officially Autumn. We’re getting cosy & comfy today with one outfit you need to wear in Autumn 2018. Grab a coffee and your outfit planner and let’s have some styling fun.

You’ve seen these prints on Pinterest and Instagram and to be fair, I feel like a good old checked print sets the mood for Autumn. As well as all the other bits: autumn candles, rusted leaves, chestnuts and pumpkin cupcakes. I wanted to fully embrace this season, so I did a little shopping of candles, cupcake trays and other pieces of decoration for my house last weekend – I did a quick haul on my Instagram stories @notagirlygal.

Getting cosy: One Outfit You Need to Wear in Autumn 2018

There are a lot of combinations you can choose and think about while creating a patterned outfit Autumn look. You can go for dresses worn on top of jumpers, checked skirts and white shirts or checked vests on top of a (really) autumnal outfit.

not a girly gal

I chose this classic print because I assume that all of you have a checked printed piece of clothing at home waiting for you to style it. As the checked item will represent the main piece in your outfit, you would like the other pieces not to stand out as much as the others.

Getting cosy: One Outfit You Need to Wear in Autumn 2018

TIP: Go for Earthy colours such as nudes and maroons to make the patterned piece steal the show.

 Time for the perfect accessories

It’s Autumn: your perfect excuse to go big on accessories! I love wearing hats, berets, big earrings and watches.

The elegant watch I am wearing is the Viol by Obaku (a Danish brand just launching in the U.K) – I love how the watch comes in the same colour of my jeans. It looks so fragile on my wrist, I think that’s what makes it elegant. If you’re looking for a simple watch this season, keep close as I will be running a giveaway soon!

The beret just makes this outfit so chic – I got this one from Paris from a cute boutique.

Earring wise, I think H&M are smashing it with their collections – these ones are from Holister, but I haven’t been in there for a while now.

 Alternatives to hats

If hats are not really your thing, a sleek ponytail is always cool to wear in autumn. From my point of view, top knots and ponytails work so beautifully with scarves of any kind: small, big or even knitted.

Talking about knits, I feel that I’ve been getting on to my knitted stuff lately. I just like Autumn fashion because it’s more than just wearing a dress – it’s the art of layering that makes me enjoy creating outfits for both my blog and everyday wear. I guess it’s the same for all of fashion lovers out there.
