Finding ways to stay happy during this pandemic has been my number one activity. I’m not even joking. This whole situation has had impacts on all of us, but I feel that the ultimate test we’re here to take is the test of patience. Like how more can we resist? Or better yet, how can we find ways to be happy while the situation will not change too soon? We gathered here today to explore my tested activities and tips that will help you stay or be more happy.

Spend time with your loved ones

Might be your mum and dad, your nan or grandfather, your auntie or your sister. Your loved ones are probably the most important people in your life. Spending time with them, especially if you haven’t seen them in a while, will make you both feel happier. If time or circumstances don’t allow, make sure you guys are just hanging out together at home. Watch a movie, have a shisha ‘party’ for you in the garden or cook dinner together. There are so many ways to spend time in a fun way with your family, why not take some time to explore them?

Revamp your style

It might look shallow to you at first, but think about it. When did you have so much time on your hands to spend time with yourself at home? I truly believe that this is the perfect opportunity to revamp your style. Go through your wardrobe, select what you’re currently wearing and donate what you don’t. Decluttering will make you feel more relaxed, calm and happy. Come up with new ways of wearing your clothes – perhaps now you’ll see combos that you haven’t tried in the past. You will also be able to clearly see what you’re missing in your wardrobe and will be less inclined to impulse buy everything that’s on sale online. Win, win! Stay happy during this pandemic.

Indulge in your passions

We all have passions, but do we have the time to explore them? Usually not, but now maybe there’s an hour or two we can spare for what makes us truly happy. Some people love photography, others might like painting or playing the guitar. Allowing yourself to not feel pressured by time will make you so happy and relaxed. Maybe, you’ll create a habit out of it and you’ll become the next expert in your field.

Allow yourself to just be

My personal opinion is that we’re all so stressed about this situation also because we’re not used to just doing the simple things. Society is always in a rush, therefore we are always in a hurry too. If anyone would have asked me to read a fiction book three months ago, I would have said ‘pass’ as I was only focusing on non-fiction. All I wanted was to be productive and EVEN more productive, until I burnt out. Allow yourself to just be: read that romance book, go on that weekend away in the countryside away from everyone, take that longer bath (if you don’t get borded after 20 minutes like I do). Appreciate the moments you have in your life.

Keep your mind open to new opportunities

I know that some people might have been made redundant, others are bored in their jobs while others might have been trying to get a new job in the middle of this pandemic. If you’re in one of these situations, keeping positive is even more challenging. Always know that opportunities can arise from unexpected places and circumstances. Just keep your mind open and don’t be afraid to take on new challenges. In the same time, keep patient and practice the tips I’ve gave you above. You’ve GOT this!

And that’s how to stay happy during this pandemic. How do you cope? Is there anything specific that you’re doing? Just let us know in the comment section below, we’d love to find out your ways as well.

P.S: Don’t forget that I launched my book ‘Create a life you love’ to give you an extra push and motivate you to be ambitious enough to chase your dreams.

Lots of love,

Andrada

Self care, wellbeing, mindfulness. They are words that I haven’t really used until recently. As you grow up you start to realise how important it is to look after yourself and spend some extra time for your wellbeing. I’m sharing with you 10 ways to practice self care even though you’re completely new to the subject and have little time to assign to it.

Start short sessions of meditation

If you haven’t practiced any type of meditation before, a great place to start would be an app or an audible playlist. There are apps out there that help you meditate; it’s such as having your own personal coach guiding you through meditation everyday. I started my meditation series with Simple Habit last summer by listening to a shooting voice teaching me all about breathing techniques, the power of our imagination to bring happy thoughts and becoming more positive, just before drifting off to sleep. I’m always looking forward to that moment of my day, either that’s 5 or 10 minutes I can dedicate to it. Have a look on app store / google play and pick one app that works for you – usually they’re free, but you can upgrade to unlock other meditation exercises if you’d like to. The fun part is that you can meditate on your commute, as soon as you wake up in the morning, on your work break or while in bed at night. Whenever works for you.

Take moments for yourself

This might sound straightforward, but not a lot of us do this consciously. You might have a lot on your plate right now, from juggling work to doing your daily house keeping stuff, socialising with people, taking time to sort your other projects. These things take a lot of energy out of you, without you realising it. It’s not like going to the gym for 20 min and then feeling exhausted right away. No. A busy schedule will make you tired in the long run. Say you’ll feel it at the end of the week or month. When you realise you’re involved in too many things at once, create a schedule and allow yourself to take a breather. Right in the middle of my day I like to disconnect by going to the gym / for a run, by doing yoga or by just watching an inspiring video. It’s very important that you consciously realise that the moment is for yourself, for your own wellbeing.

Be grateful

I’ve learnt this during my meditation practices; being grateful that we’re alive and that we’ve had so many accomplishments this far is an amazing deed that we can do for ourselves. Be grateful and put things into perspective, you have a whole life in front of you to create even more great accomplishments & wonderful memories. It works like magic for me and I truly recommend you try it. You’ll notice positive thoughts running through your head at random times of the day.

Allow yourself to experience emotions

Either good or bad, emotions need to be let out. We all have rough days when we can’t feel as positive. Allow yourself to just be! Don’t feel pressured to feel something else than you’re experiencing. For as long as you need. Then, try to get back on your positive vibes. It’s important to acknowledge the feeling and then move on.

Enjoy ever mouthful

Having time to fully enjoy your meal is vital. Take at least one meal a day where you sit down and eat your food without doing something else (eg. working). While we eat dinner, me and Andrei like to either chat or watch an entertaining video to disconnect a little bit before we go back to working on our projects. I recommend you do the same and have that as your daily objective. You’ll feel so much better at the end of the day.

Don’t judge yourself too harshly

We all have our own plans and objectives. Some of us even run our businesses while working full time and that means juggling a lot and accomplishing a lot on both plans. The mistake some of us do is judging ourselves on the daily instead of focusing on the yearly. What that means is that if one of your posts as a blogger didn’t do well today or if your sales are down today, that’s not a big deal at all. Look at it from a year’s perspective, did you grow your views / following or did you make more sales than last year? That’s your KPI and should feel proud. That’s something that I started doing recently and it definitely opens up a new perspective.

Avoid running into stressful situations

Ahh, I used to be the queen of running into stressful situations in every circumstance because I wasn’t organised enough. Of course there are situations like that even today, but they occur less because I’m tired of not organising myself and forgetting small pieces of the puzzle. Say you need to go on a short trip, you might want to plan you outfits in advance, do your research on all the places you want to see (including the distance between them) and pack some extra helpful items such as an umbrella, plasters. You’ll save time deciding what to wear in the morning and those nice things you wanted to see might be on your way and run into them randomly during the day while you’re out and about! Same goes for going to work and planning your meals. Just give an extra 5 minutes of planning and you’ll be running into less stressful situations.

Relaxing bath

It’s a cliché, but taking a relaxing bath really has the power to make you feel more at ease. The sweet scent of your bubble foam or oils, the lukewarm water and the lit candles contribute to lifting your mood and inducing you into a state of relaxation. Even 20 min of soaking will make a difference. These are moments you can take for yourself and choose health over any work you might have due. Everything else can wait and it’s ok.

Practice your hobby

We all have one! It can be painting (mine is), playing an instrument, reading or cycling. In today’s world where we’re pressured to do everything we need to do, there is literally little time left for practicing our hobbies. Although that is the case, we still need to find time for hobbies. That half an hour of cooking can easily be reduced to 15 minutes if you’re looking at the right recipe. Cut time on mundane activities and allow yourself more time for some fun stuff! It’s all going back to being organised.

Declutter & disconnect

Besides decluttering your home, it’s important for your mind to declutter your email box (yeah that one running out of space now) and your iPhone that is running out of space. I only keep my phone on silent mode because who needs to hear all those alerts? It’s a good idea yo disconnect from your phone or social media life when you get home from work and a little bit before bed. Choose meditation instead if scrolling on feeds.

Self care is highly important and the more we focus on our mind, the better we perform in other areas of our lives: relationships with others, daily activities, planning your time. I hope you enjoyed this post and that will make you start practicing self-care from now on, or add a different activity to your current routine. Which one of these tips would be the easiest for you to take right now?

Feeling stuck? We all have moments when we feel stuck and we might experience a sort of mental block. Well, this happened to me recently; I didn’t feel like doing anything, let alone get creative with content ideas. In the first instance, I blamed the weather and my deep desire of having a bit of sunshine. I woke up late one morning and while I was scrolling on Instagram (I love to spend one hour in bed and just read fashion posts), I’ve seen this post ‘Put your hair in a bun, drink coffee and deal with it!’. It hit me! It’s in your power to lift your mood and make a change, I’ve known that for a while now, but sometimes you just need that push. I still can’t believe a simple post like that triggered me. If you’re feeling unmotivated or not feeling like yourself, it’s ok to get mad at that, but also try to find a solution to get out if it. Easier to say than do, right? Not to worry, I have put together a plan to motivate you again and I really hope you’ll takeaway something from it today 🙂

1. Don’t Settle in the Bad Mood

It’s so easy to settle in the bad mood and continue to feel miserable. Why do it, though? You have the power to lift your mood and before starting to do anything, bear that in mind. It will give you positive energy to actually do something about it.

2. An hour of Browsing your Favourite Magazines

Loving fashion, design or art? Or all of them? Emerse yourself in the artistic environment and guaranteed your mood will be lifted! All Versace jewerlly, Balenciaga shoes and Chanel suits shown in Vogue, Elle or Glamour will inspire you to dream with your eyes open. The Art and Travel sections in Vogue always make me discover something new like hot beaches and new London exhibitions that I’m adding to my never ending lists. When I feel less creative, getting in contact with artists that way always makes me feel positive. It’s therapy trough ART.

3. Watch a Stand-Up Comedy Show

Either on YouTube or live, a stand-up comedy show makes me laugh with tears even in my worst days. Ricky Gervais is one of my favourites on YouTube, and me and my boyfriend usually go to Top-Secret Comedy Club in Covent Garden for a good live show and a great laugh!

4. Style Your Hair and do Your Nails

When my hair looks great, I feel amazing! Even though you don’t feel like it, style your hair differently when you’re feeling down. It’s a mood booster! Try out a new beauty salon or do it yourself at home. I recently went to Jonathan Lever for a blow dry and I was supper happy with the relaxed curls the stylist gave me. So, hair on point can mean day on point. Nails are super important too, and good manicure makes me feel put together. To reinvent that quote:  ‘Style your hair, do your nails and conquer the day’.

5. Get Creative!

Step out from that bad mood you’re in by getting creative. If you’re a blogger, read other blogs and fashion magazines, watch documentaries and try to come up with new ideas for your blog. I take great inspiration from Sofia Amoruso (founder of Nasty Gal, author of Girl Boss) and Maria Hatziesfanis (founder of Rodial, author of How to Build an Overnight Success), so I love watching interviews with them to get my creativity going. If you didn’t read their books yet, I totally recommend them as they will change your perspective on building your personal brand! P.S: Read while you commute to save precious time.

6. Go on a Street Food Market Stroll

Invite a friend with you for a street food market stroll! I love the street food on Notting Hill Market & Camden! Even though it rains, in Notting Hill you can eat and drink inside. After that, why not going to the beauty salon together to get that fresh style I mentioned earlier?

What would be something that you do when you don’t feel 100% good? Let me know in the comment section below 🙂

Until next time,

MISSANDRADA

Hi there,

Are you enjoying Autumn so far? 🙂 I am so happy to have started this lifestyle section on my blog that I keep writing on it constantly (Go you – for your positive feedback so far!).

I’ll try to make this post as specific as I can because things that make us all happy can be as broad as sun shining on a warm summer day or raindrops falling on your opened window. Of course, I love all of that but I would love to share with you more specific aspects that make me enjoy life more every day. Perhaps, you can pick some of them up and start enjoying some of them as well (they’re really positive little things to be happy for).

My boyfriend’s beautiful smile in the morning

He can make my day with his smile – any day, anytime! Sharing positive energy in the morning is key to a beautiful life and relationship.

A great cup of frothed milk coffee

That’s the second thing that makes me smile in the morning. I am currently using a Nespresso machine for making my coffee and a super cute frothed milk machine for the milk (had no idea they sell something like that). I’ll soon get into coffee art (just kidding – or maybe not) – I love those pretty heart patterns on the top of my coffee, so why not learn how to make one? Haha..

Wearing my favourite perfume makes me feel amazing all day

I have a list of perfumes I really like, but my absolute favourite one is Kenzo Jungle L’elephant. It’s a spicy floral fragrance that combines notes of amber mandarin, cardamon, cloves, ylang-ylang – creating an intense and sensual trace. I usually read www.fragrantica.com to discover the top notes of different perfumes, and check their longevity and sillage. It’s a great tool to use for perfume lovers.

Going to the gym & taking a hot shower in the middle of the day

Ah the wonders the gym does to my day! I feel so happy I started to integrate going to the gym into my weekly schedule. It’s the first time I’ve ever joined a gym and I feel more confident than ever about it!

Receiving your support on the blog

Honestly, I appreciate all your support – on Instagram, Twitter and in the comment sections. It makes me keep going and keep writing content. It’s that feeling you get when you’re doing something really right. So a huge THANK YOU! I instantly feel happy that my work made you feel something good. Please continue to do so, because it’s truly appreciated.

A great outfit of the day!

Nothing helps my Instagram feed more than a great outfit! Let’s connect on Insta, I would love to see your posts! Follow @missandradavonc – I’ll follow back (pinky promise)

Catching up about the day on a glass of wine

With all the good things happening these days, I love seeing him again and get lost in conversations about our day and other activities that interests us – plans, events coming up, trips, holidays, new recipes we discovered. We’re super enthusiastic about life and we enjoy discovering it together.

What makes you happy during the day – maybe driving to your favourite place or talking to your best friend? Tell me more about it in the comment section – it would be wonderful to get to know you as well.

Until next time,

 Autumnal / Halloween Haul

Happy Sunday everyone,

It’s THAT time of the year when we start to get excited about the leaves getting brown and the weather getting colder. Although, I have to say, London is so warm for almost the end of October and I can’t really complain because I’m not a freezing cold lover (maybe in a parallel universe someone loves super cold weather, but I personally don’t know anyone that does here haha).

I personally love to get festive and decorate my house according to the season. I feel that this year I actually made more in that sense for Autumn than ever before. Ah and this reminds me – I didn’t try the Starbucks Pumpkin Latte yet (so late to the party, girl!). Anyways, I picked different autumn scented candles, glitter pumpkins, real pumpkins, creepy chocolates and many other exciting stuff that I can’t wait to show you. Let’s get into it, shall we?

I made almost all my Halloween shopping in ASDA because I feel they have an awesome collection every year (I started to say awesome so much by the way). So we switched from the usual online groceries shopping and we hit the actual store last Friday night.

Glitter Pumpkins

They came in a set of three and they’re super cute! If you want to give a girly autumnal aspect to your bedroom, these cuties will perfectly suit you. Well, I love glitter and gold – imagine the excitement when I saw them on the website. I would highly recommend to check the website first because the Halloween section in store was kind of unorganised (everything was thrown in wrong aisles.. I mean I get shoppers’ excitement but they should be conscious about their actions! – OK, that sounded so serious).

halloween2017 decorations pumpkin

Aren’t they the best?

Baileys Pumpkin Spice

Woo Baileys you are beyond AMAZING! Basically, this limited edition tastes like cinnamon and spiced chai blended with the original Irish cream. I love it when limited edition drinks are really different from the original. I was actually surprised by the perfect blend and how crazy good this tastes (not that I don’t love the original too). It’s that one drink that you HAVE to try this season – it will lift your mood and perfectly get you into the Autumn feeling. Enjoy the strong spices on the rocks (2 ice cubes will do) and embrace the season!

Little Yankee Candles

I love having little candles because I get bored so easily of scents (Mercy, my best friend will agree with me on this). If you’re like me, you’ll understand. My picks for this season:

Japanese Maple and Iced Almond Cookies

Yankee Candle Autumn

The first one smells subtle which is not bad in general, but I prefer a stronger scent to my candles.  It’s a good one for the season, but I am still looking for the perfect one – Any suggestions please?

The second one smells like my mum’s Christmas cookies – yum yum yum!

Halloween Cupcakes

They look so sooo lovely! I saw these on the shelf and thought they will go so well for the Halloween pre-party. You can see in the picture the pumpkin we carved – it’s super scary at night!

halloween cupcakes pumpkin

Now, I will pour a glass of Baileys, light a Yankee candle and snuggle in bed with my fashion magazines while you browse your items for Halloween.

Happy Halloween my lovelies,

MISSANDRADA
