A negative mindset can impact your life in various ways. I’m sure you might know this, but sometimes it all starts with an “what if” and then you fall into deep & negative thoughts. You might start questioning yourself and everything you do. In the end this mindset is doing nothing but bringing unnecessary pain to you. If you’re looking to change your mindset RIGHT NOW and invest in your self development, keep on reading.

However, a positive mindset can improve your daily routine in so many ways. Being positive and receptive about life events has such an important role to play into building a calmer mind and a more joyful life.

If you ask yourself ‘How can I achieve this mindset change?’, there are a few exercises I have tried and that work very well for me. I would like to share my spiritual awakening with you and help anyone looking to change their mindset.

Meditation and yoga practice

First of all, have you ever tried meditating and practicing yoga? If not, you should try these exercises right now. Yoga mostly helps you focus on your breath and the exact movement of your body. After everything, it brings you back to the moment that matters the most, the present. There are lots of free practices on YouTube that I totally recommend when you’re starting out. Yoga and meditation help you look forward into your life and help you calm yourself when you feel shaken by a negative mindset.

Surrounding yourself with positive people

Secondly, I believe that surrounding yourself with positive people can help with your mindset change. After all, knowing that someone loves and appreciates you is one of the best feelings in the entire world. Make sure that those people are also positive and that they have your back!

Take responsibility – Stop playing the victim

Also, stop playing the victim and take responsibility. You and only you can create a good life. Don’t forget these words and start raising. There is always a way out of the negative aspects of your life. Embrace this fact and CHOOSE more for yourself. Choose the life you want to have and make it happen. It all stands in your power. You can achieve that mindset change that you dream of, but you have to believe it and work for it.

Practice mindful awareness

Moreover, in order to achieve a mindset change from negative to positive you can practice mindful awareness. Embrace the present moment. The past is gone and we never know what future can unfold us. You should enjoy every moment and stop over thinking your steps. With the help of mindfulness we can recognise what is actually going on in our mind and start to let it go.

Practice gratitude

Practicing gratitude is also an important step in order to achieve a mindset change. Actually, you can think of all the kind moments you have experienced in your life so that you can get into that special state of mind. Try showing gratitude at least once a day because even a little sign of appreciation can change one’s day. Once you realise that, you shall feel so much more positive about yourself and your mindset shall switch from dark to light.

Keeping a gratitude journal

Also, keeping a gratitude journal can improve your optimism. It is proven that if you write down all the things you are grateful for you will have so much more comfort on a hard day only by reading your little journal. After all, why not remember how many things bring joy and peace to you on a daily basis?

Start your day with a positive affirmation

My last tip for you to achieve mindset change will be to start everyday by telling yourself a positive affirmation. For example, you can always wake up and say: “Today will be a great and productive day for me”, “Today is my time to shine and to prove myself how great I am”, “I am going to surf through this day with a positive mindset “.

This positive affirmation will give you a confidence boost and will help you set your goal for the day. Always remember that nothing is impossible and that you have a purpose in this world. Motivation is one of the main traits that help you go on and do better, therefore you shall never stop going for a mindset change.

All things considered, you CAN change your life by making a mindset change. Switch from negative to positive and let the world see the kind and happy you. Boost your confidence and don’t stop believing in your goals. By the end of the day, if you try at least one of these exercises, I promise you it will be the start of your journey to positivity.

Last but not least, how do you practice positive thinking?

Confidence. Such a small word… with such an important role to play in your life. Being confident, especially having confidence at work is key nowadays. Not only you will radiate positivity and happiness once you become the confident person you always wanted to be, but you shall feel much more ready to action your work day. You’ll realise that you have such a special place on this Planet and that no one can be you. That is your power once you start believing in yourself.

However, if you analyse your daily schedule you’ll see how much time you spend working and how that time affects your routine and your personality. Being able to spend time in a positive way at work will have an impact on how you’re feeling after the working hours. Considering this, we can agree that if your day starts promising the rest of the time you have left will also improve and flow with even more positivity.

Confidence at work may seem hard to achieve at first because you might see your colleagues who might be stronger and quite intimidating. On the other side, many employees might have problems at home or might not be able to control their nerves and emotions. That shows. Perhaps you’ll feel caught in a circle of complaining and feeling as low as them. However, once YOU start focusing on yourself and achieve confidence you are unstoppable. You will feel better and the people around you will also take your lead because happiness is such a spreading feeling.

Completely cut the negative self-talk

First of all, to boost your confidence at work  you must cut the negative self-talk out of your life. No one can feel inspired and productive if they are discouraged. Once you start saying to yourself “I can do it”, “I can be better” you will have a boost of confidence and you will start believing these words. It is so important for one to believe in themselves. A positive mindset will help you learn easier and also make you work faster and better.

Always focus on your strengths

Secondly, you shall always focus on your strengths. Everyone has them, everyone is good at something. Find that thing and develop it. Once you focus on your strengths and not on your weaknesses you shall realise how much better is to do something excellently rather than adequately. Your confidence will be boosting after this exercise and you might also realise how great it feels to be good at something, to be appreciated for it. It will comfort you when you are spending too much time over-thinking your weakest points.

Boost your knowledge

Moreover, a constant learning ability will boost your knowledge. How does that affect your life at work?

Well, it is proven that a person who is willing to learn and develop his / her knowledge will have better results and accomplishments. We, as humans are built to learn for the rest of our lives. Even if we are learning how to use a new generation mobile phone or how to boost our confidence, we are still learning something new everyday. It is important to use this human trait in our favour at work. Knowing how certain practices work can boost your confidence easily and make you feel important.

Be curious, ask questions

Also, you do not have to be afraid to ask questions and to be curious. Because after all, while doing this you show that you have a strong willing to learn, to be better and also that you are ambitious. Who knows?! Maybe these traits will help you get into that project that you loved and were afraid to ask about.

Stop trying to achieve perfection

Actually, did you know that no one in this whole world is perfect? Well, as unbelievable as it seems, this is the truth. You have to accept that everyone makes mistakes and that a small or even large mistake is not the end of the world or of your carrier. As long as we keep learning, even from our mistakes we are doing all right. We, as humans, have to move on and always try to be better, but not perfect! Once you stop trying to achieve perfection you can free yourself and take risks or even try taking on new responsibilities. You should improve so much more and feel confident!

Feedback is always a great idea

Taking into consideration our last tip, I can add that a feedback is always a good idea. Either it is a negative feedback or a positive one, now that we established that no one is perfect, you can learn what you are doing right and wrong from another perspective. Of course, your point of view and perception should always be important for yourself, but time to time it is good for you to hear what other people think about your work. You might have the same opinion and if not, you can always try something new.

Always celebrate your achievements

My last tip for you is to always celebrate your achievements. If you reached a goal or got an amazing review after hours of work you should celebrate, YOU deserve it! Acknowledge your success and embrace it. Rewarding yourself will remember you how great you are! I believe there is no bigger confidence boost than a job well done.

All things considered, you can do it! Anyone can! You just have to believe in yourself, have some faith in your work. As long as you have a positive mindset no one and nothing can touch you or your work! This is why boosting your confidence at work  takes such an important part in your life.

Hello everyone,

As you might have seen on my social media channels, it was my birthday yesterday. I’ve just turned 24 and I feel incredibly powerful. Yes, I feel powerful because my life experiences have made me feel confident. This article is about sharing what I’ve learnt in my life so far, aiming to ‘inspire’ (quotation marks there because I don’t really like that word) you to look at certain things from a different light.

lifelessons missandrada.png

Always trust your instinct

It might be scary and even too much sometimes, but if your instinct is telling you something, just trust it. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t come up with a rational plan for your actions because don’t get me wrong, we’re rational beings as we are emotional, but use your instinct as a guide. Mine was never wrong, or better yet, mine always led me to beautiful destinations and I’m sure yours will too.

Don’t let anyone bring you down

Some people will always think they know better about everything. They don’t. No one knows what’s best for you better than yourself. If someone tries to bring you down and not giving you actual advice or ‘feedback’ (careful with this feedback though because it’s not well intended all the time), there’s no point to listen to their opinion. You know phrases like ‘I’m not sure if you should do that’ or ‘I think your priorities are not set straight’, I personally understand where they come from, but it’s important how the person communicates it to you. These two affirmations show lack of knowledge because no one can ever tell you which are your priorities. Don’t let other people bring you down with the way they speak to you even though it’s non-intentional. Use positive words and explain how that can affect your relationship. If they do want to bring you down, just distance yourself from that poisonous relationship. Easy!

Believe in your own power to succeed

Cliche or not, this is one of the best pieces of advice I could give you. I touched on the importance of believing in your own power to succeed in this article. If you haven’t read it yet, have a look at it for a more in-depth chat. What I would love for you to do right now is to picture where you want to get and believe with your whole heart that you have to get there. Guess what? You will! There were situations in my life when I had to believe in myself and my power to succeed and without that inner strength I’m not sure that I would have gotten to where I am today. Had to have a lot of strength when I moved on my own at 19 to study marketing in the UK, when I quit my job just to find another one two weeks later and to quit that new one after two weeks because it wasn’t a match! Be bold and don’t look back, as hard as it may be.

See the good in people first

It took me a while to be good at this to be honest. I used to be judging others and be more inclined to dislike new people rather than give them a fair chance. I haven’t analysed why but the point is that now I welcome people in my life and start seeing the good in them from the beginning! I encourage you to do the same because you never know who can become your absolute best friend.

Give your best to make your friends feel amazing

When you have friends over or when you meet up out give your best to make them feel great in your company. Leave your negative vibes aside and be the persons who says ‘you look so pretty today’! When they do stay over, make sure they feel at home. Look at all little details that can make their stay amazing: ear pods, night masks, chargers, welcome gifts, carefully prepare food. Give them a stay to remember. It will make you so happy to offer something from your heart and your relationship will only become better and better.

Give 100% in everything you do

Do things with passion and put your 100% in everything you do: projects, relationships, university work. Only this way, you can be the best version of yourself.

Be DEDICATED to achieving your goals

Sometimes we don’t feel like putting in the work or we often prefer to hang out than put in the effort. Goal achievement is a lot of work, a lot of ups & downs and most importantly is a lot of dedication. Don’t think that people who succeeded did so over night. You need to be dedicated, passionate and absolutely sure you’ll do your best.

Motivate yourself when you’re feeling down

I have some moments when I’m not as motivated, when I’d rather watch YouTube than work out for example. In those moments, I am motivating myself to get out and do it. Having that end goal in mind is so essential when it comes to motivation. Sometimes, I do feel down and I put myself in a better mood by lighting a candle or reading a few pages of a good book. I totally recommend finding your own motivation routine: podcasts, books, videos to keep yourself on the right track.

Get surrounded by people who aspire towards something great

You know how important it is to have people who are doing great around you? Energy is transferable and good energy is really contagious. It’s equally important that your friends not only do great, but aspire to do better all the time.

Don’t give up when things get though

EASY to say, right? Just practice your own motivation techniques and believe in yourself to have the power to continue when things get though. It’s the hard part of the process of evolution, but it’s paying off.

It’s ok to have ‘bad’ days

Yes, you can motivate yourself and yes it may not work one day and that’s ok. Accept yourself. Accept your moods.

Learn life admin things early (moving houses, paying bills, credit cards, buying cars)

Let me tell you, either you like it or not life admin things make you a responsible person. Read online about opening a credit card to improve your credit score, learn how to better pack and move houses, research buying your own car to be less dependent on public transportation. The sooner you learn all these things, the better for you!

Allow yourself a bit of time to learn something new often

One of my favourite things to do is to learn something new about history, interior design or different cultures. I often browse the Netflix section for documentary / lifestyle shows that not only entertain me, but teach me something new as well! It helps me stay updated and grow my general knowledge which is something I highly value in everyone.

Learn how to love

Learn how to love and do it selflessly.

Love your family, life partner and friends with all your heart

Love them with all your heart and offer them your time because it’s the most precious gift, after actual gifts.

Invest more money in travelling and cool experiences rather than shoes

Experience, travelling and embracing new cultures = that’s what life is about for me. Shoes and other goods are important too, but they come second 😉

Have relaxing moments with yourself

Run a bath, watch something relaxing, paint. Allow yourself to relax!

Find happiness in something good that you do

I recently discovered my passion for interior design. I design rooms on my Ipad or read about the subject online and it makes me so happy. I also love cooking healthy food and enjoy every mouthful!

Always aspire to grow on all plans

Grow and look at your performance 🙂

Enjoy every single moment of your life

This one speaks for itself!

Show your appreciation to others sooner rather than later

Show appreciation as soon as you feel it! Don’t hide your feelings.

Don’t judge and don’t moan & groan

Stop judging and instead of complaining about situations, find positive things to talk about. You can’t change the past, can you? You can only focus on what’s to come.

For fellow bloggers out there, do your thing & people will love you

Express yourself and don’t be afraid to share your thoughts with the world. Stop obessing about the numbers and just to you thing 🙂

Be your own kind of beautiful

Be yourself and enjoy every moment of your life!

Did you notice how in my baby pictures I was always ‘flying’? So funny, I can’t have a traditional picture because I was actually happy while ‘flying around’ haha! I really hope you enjoyed this post. See you soon ❤️

Lots of love,

Andrada

Confidence wasn’t something that I was born with; not at all. I think that during secondary school bullying definitely affected how I felt about myself. It wasn’t just bullying that made me feel unconfident though; it also had to do with the fact that I was different and not really fitting in from my point of view. Luckily for me (and you today), I realised something that made me 100% more confident than I was. Keep on reading to find out what it was!

how to gain more confidence missandrada

My life growing up was really fun I would say, but during a year or two in secondary school I was struggling a little bit with my mental health, especially the way I was seeing myself. I am sure that a majority of you have dealt with bullying or bad jokes in school. Looking back now, it’s not a big deal, but for a kid it’s a HUGE deal because at that age we don’t know who we are and what is our potential. We won’t even listen to our family’s kind words, all we seek is the bully’s approval. However, it stopped at some point and I was able to feel happy that finally I can enjoy my life which was really beautiful anyways! I started analysing myself even more and basically, I was feeling doubtful in myself because actually I was NOT fitting in. I was different. I had a different fashion style. I was an extrovert. I had opinions. I enjoyed different things. And that, affected me a lot. It was like, everything that I was doing had more consequences for me than for everybody else. Was I skipping school because I had a real reason? Andrada is in trouble now. Was I talking to someone during a class? Andrada got kicked out for 20 minutes.  Everyone else could go unnoticed, but not myself. WHY?

how i gained 100% more confidence while growing up for millennials missandrada

Being always present and having a good relationship with lecturers meant that my actions were supervised really closely. Was that a bad thing? Absolutely not. They cared. I realised that being different is not a bad thing. Some people liked me, some didn’t. At least I was authentic and people who wanted me to succeed were supporting me, including the lecturers. Funny, but I only realised this in my last year of high school when actually lecturers were listening to my opinion and appreciating me for who I am & how hard I study. Take it like this, you need to get to know yourself, what you’re capable of and let others know it as well. If you don’t trust yourself, no one will. I finally learnt that gaining attention wasn’t a bad thing and realised I need to turn that in my favour. I gained a certain influence in class too. That massively helped me.

Your turn now!

Be authentic

It’s being written everywhere and you’re probably BORED out of your mind. Trust me, being authentic is really important in a world where people can be really fake and sometimes not because they want to, but because they’re afraid to be themselves. Be who you are because by knowing who you are, you nail down your strengths and start to grow your confidence. Starting point: write down 10 things you really like about yourself and celebrate your own self! It’s such a confidence booster!

Believe in your power to be successful

If you believe in your power to succeed and actually achieve all your plans, your mind will send great signals to the universe and you’ll be one step closer to the end goal. Not only that, but your confidence levels will go to the roof. You’ll start talking with such passion about your projects and start to believe in yourself more and more!

Enjoy the attention!

With such confidence levels, expect people to be curious. They will start asking you all sort of questions from good intentions ones to some uncomfortable ones just because they can. Learn how to respond to each type of question and enjoy people’s attention. Again, people will be curious, but you shouldn’t let their opinion influence the way you think about your projects or even about yourself. Don’t listen to nasty comments and be happy for people who support you. You’ll be so much more confident!

Influence others with your confidence…

Turn their attention in the direction you decide. Confident people inspire other people and influence them in different ways. Have you noticed how someone who just started a business has a vast knowledge in the subject? They can easily use that to influence others in many areas and gain their respect. Always speak about your projects or plans with great knowledge (don’t boast) and let your actions speak louder than your words. People will see you’re smart and really driven. They will respect and value your opinion. Obviously, your end goal is not to prove everyone your potential, but this will inevitably happen sooner or later.

There you have it, how I gained 100% more confidence while growing up! I’m sure my tips will help you feel more confident and get you ready to celebrate your own beautiful self. I would love to know, what’s the one part in this article that you identify yourself with?

Until next time,

Feeling stuck? We all have moments when we feel stuck and we might experience a sort of mental block. Well, this happened to me recently; I didn’t feel like doing anything, let alone get creative with content ideas. In the first instance, I blamed the weather and my deep desire of having a bit of sunshine. I woke up late one morning and while I was scrolling on Instagram (I love to spend one hour in bed and just read fashion posts), I’ve seen this post ‘Put your hair in a bun, drink coffee and deal with it!’. It hit me! It’s in your power to lift your mood and make a change, I’ve known that for a while now, but sometimes you just need that push. I still can’t believe a simple post like that triggered me. If you’re feeling unmotivated or not feeling like yourself, it’s ok to get mad at that, but also try to find a solution to get out if it. Easier to say than do, right? Not to worry, I have put together a plan to motivate you again and I really hope you’ll takeaway something from it today 🙂

1. Don’t Settle in the Bad Mood

It’s so easy to settle in the bad mood and continue to feel miserable. Why do it, though? You have the power to lift your mood and before starting to do anything, bear that in mind. It will give you positive energy to actually do something about it.

2. An hour of Browsing your Favourite Magazines

Loving fashion, design or art? Or all of them? Emerse yourself in the artistic environment and guaranteed your mood will be lifted! All Versace jewerlly, Balenciaga shoes and Chanel suits shown in Vogue, Elle or Glamour will inspire you to dream with your eyes open. The Art and Travel sections in Vogue always make me discover something new like hot beaches and new London exhibitions that I’m adding to my never ending lists. When I feel less creative, getting in contact with artists that way always makes me feel positive. It’s therapy trough ART.

3. Watch a Stand-Up Comedy Show

Either on YouTube or live, a stand-up comedy show makes me laugh with tears even in my worst days. Ricky Gervais is one of my favourites on YouTube, and me and my boyfriend usually go to Top-Secret Comedy Club in Covent Garden for a good live show and a great laugh!

4. Style Your Hair and do Your Nails

When my hair looks great, I feel amazing! Even though you don’t feel like it, style your hair differently when you’re feeling down. It’s a mood booster! Try out a new beauty salon or do it yourself at home. I recently went to Jonathan Lever for a blow dry and I was supper happy with the relaxed curls the stylist gave me. So, hair on point can mean day on point. Nails are super important too, and good manicure makes me feel put together. To reinvent that quote:  ‘Style your hair, do your nails and conquer the day’.

5. Get Creative!

Step out from that bad mood you’re in by getting creative. If you’re a blogger, read other blogs and fashion magazines, watch documentaries and try to come up with new ideas for your blog. I take great inspiration from Sofia Amoruso (founder of Nasty Gal, author of Girl Boss) and Maria Hatziesfanis (founder of Rodial, author of How to Build an Overnight Success), so I love watching interviews with them to get my creativity going. If you didn’t read their books yet, I totally recommend them as they will change your perspective on building your personal brand! P.S: Read while you commute to save precious time.

6. Go on a Street Food Market Stroll

Invite a friend with you for a street food market stroll! I love the street food on Notting Hill Market & Camden! Even though it rains, in Notting Hill you can eat and drink inside. After that, why not going to the beauty salon together to get that fresh style I mentioned earlier?

What would be something that you do when you don’t feel 100% good? Let me know in the comment section below 🙂

Until next time,

MISSANDRADA

I feel so inspired to start writing on my lifestyle section. Thank you for the support received on my first post.

10 things I’ve learnt by the time I’ve turned 22

     1.  Don’t be ashamed of not knowing everything- always be happy to learn

I remember I was chatting to an older guy some years ago and I didn’t know a random fact that seemed quite obvious to me. I immediately apologised for my lack of knowledge but it was what he replied to me that stuck with me until now. He assured me: Don’t ever apologise for what you don’t know. We’re all on a life journey that will make us richer everyday. It’s natural not knowing everything! So, now I only feel ashamed if I don’t have an interest in learning – it can be anything related to digital marketing, painting, fashion or love.

     2. Be positive and embrace every moment of your life and great things will happen to you

This can sound like a huge cliché but trust me there’s nothing more wonderful than being grateful for every moment you get to spend in your life. There are times during the day when I just appreciate a smile, an hour in the gym (just joined recently), a good coffee. That’s the way to a more positive – therefore, better life.

   3. Everything is possible! You just need to be really perseverant if you want to reach your ultimate goal

Step out from your comfort zone and fully embrace your goal. Let’s say you plan to travel to Bali next summer. If visiting Bali is your goal, then do everything it takes to get there (nothing illegal please). Save up by maybe let’s say, not eating out so much, exclude impulsive buying and save the ultimate fashion shopping for when you arrive there. Think about how worthy it will be, keep your goal in your mind and get there. It requires different sacrifices, but you’ll get where you want.

4.Don’t allow anyone kill your vibe (just don’t!)

Get away from people that don’t show support or inspire you to grow and be more positive. They are the vibe killers and energy suckers that you don’t need in your life!

5.Embracing a healthy lifestyle will highly contribute to your general mood

I can’t stress how important this is! I used to not eat as healthy as I could and with the support of my wonderful (knows all about health) boyfriend I started to make the change last February. On top of eating healthy, quite recently I joined a gym near my office and it’s amazing that I can get there during my lunch break. I feel so much better than last year and I can actually see how slim and healthy my body looks.  Please let me know if you would like a more detailed post on that.

    6. Being pro-active and bold will take you to the top of the game

I’m pro-active by nature, but I couldn’t help but notice that not everyone is. That can be ok in cases, but if you want to make yourself stand out and be the best at what you plan to do, you have to make yourself stand out and more importantly truly seek the opportunities to progress. In the end of the day, no one will be responsible for the things you didn’t do… no one but yourself.

   7. Never forget your starting point

This has to do a lot with the way you’ve been brought up, but as a basic advice that I can give to you: never forget your starting point. Growing and reaching your goals should inspire others to do so themselves, not to make them feel less about themselves.

   8. Don’t waste time on unimportant things

If something is not important for you at the moment, just don’t waste time on it. Learning to prioritise is key in your personal development. It’s important to always look at the bigger picture.

  9. Don’t comply yourself with a situation you don’t like

Don’t like something? Change it. There are many ways in which you can change minor things to reflect your desired way of living. On a small scale – don’t like your assigned seat on the train because it’s too cold / hot there? Do something and move to a better one. Don’t be afraid to speak out and do what’s best for you. This is just a little example but you get my point.

   10. Love your family & friends and make them feel you do so

I love to make my favourite people feel loved and cared about. I would do anything for them and I believe it’s important to make them know it. Surprising them with acts of kindness or little gifts I know they love is super important to me. Keeping in touch of them on a constant basis will do so much for your relationship.

And these are my top 10 things I’ve learnt until today. I am really happy to share with you this side of me and truly hope it will make you consider some. What is one thing you’ve learnt that constantly guides you actions? Let’s catch up in the comments below! It would mean the world to me to hear about your life experiences.

Until next time,

MISSANDRADA
