The wonders of London Fashion Week. By day 2 my feet were hurting like never before. What have I done? I was asking myself. I stuck my foot in that stiletto boot because I wanted to be on time for my first show the night before. My toes were so numb the next day – my body was feeling just a bit tired, but I really wanted to do Day 2. I’ve put on some natural make-up, my Fenty Pumas and walked out my door. Keep on reading to find out exactly what to wear to make the most of this week!

What to wear at London Fashion Week

In terms of what to actually wear the events, I highly recommend shoes that you can walk around in, queue in and most importantly feel just a bit comfortable in (cause we all know high heeled comfortable shoes are just so hard to find).  I chose to wear my Pumas in day 2 because my feet were killing me (I had my toes numb for 2-3 weeks after just 4 hours in heels the day before). You can opt for boots, pumas, low heeled sandals or even high heels if you’re convinced they are bearable.

Depending on the event’s nature, you can decide whether you want your outfit to be casual chic or a bit more elegant. I am not the type of person to be walking around in a wedding attendant’s dress, so please don’t go overboard! I’ve seen it all! Below is the outfit that I wore during day 2 and it got a lot of people noticing it and loving it – it fully represents me. Always go for something that represents you: remember that you’re not there to adhere to a dress code, but rather to express yourself and network with people just like you. That’s how you do proper networking and actually enjoy the day; just put your best self forward and approach people next to you.

Hair and make-up? Whatever makes you happy 🙂

Do have a look at Day 1 outfit and get a closer look at what can go or not during LFW.

Let’s see how Day 2 went by, shall we? I regrouped with my lovely Saffy and some cool girls we met the day before and started the day! That’s what I love about Fashion Week – you get to know people once and throughout the days, you keep bumping into them. It’s just great – you know how much I love chatting over champagne or cocktails!

First Stop: The Rohmir SS19 Show

Ah the goose bumps because of the amazing ballet on French music! When Si tu n’existe pas started my mood was lifted: I was so happy to watch their performance. I was already in a good mood when the models started the catwalk. My favourite outfit? I can’t pick one! I was in love with the big gowns & crowns and the over-sized knots over tops.

The colour palette was a mix of nude colours and browns, but also quite contrasting, the models were wearing baby pink and bright navy blue. I feel like navy blue was super popular on the cat walks. I think I saw it more than black! Can you imagine? What made a statement in her shows were also the hair and make-up.

Rosella May Presentation

A casual vibe was dominating the room – models were taking instant pictures and casually walking to the bar to get refreshments. It was almost a feeling of interacting with the actors in their break. The models kept things professional and did an amazing job in introducing us to the vibes.

White was dominant in Rosella May’s showcase. The splashes of paints had an amazing impact on the clothes. It was almost like breaking the pattern and adding a layer of fun to the casual clothes. The collection made me get myself a pair of dungarees – my first pair actually as I never worn one – funny right?

I loved how the make-up was complementing the colour splashes I talked to you about. It made me see the art behind this collection.

My favourite part?

The presentation was very well thought through – the picture wall was amazing because it was interactive; fresh pictures taken on camera were pinned to the wall which I found super original.

Thank you very much Pop PR for having me at Fashion Week this season.

Hello there,

I’m extremely happy to take part in LFW again! The crowds, the street style and the fabulous shows are just a couple of reasons why I enjoy it so much. Also, champagne and chatting to blogger friends are always a plus for me. I’ll take you with me during my first day at Fashion Week, so you can have a look at the amazing fashion from the comfort of your sofa.

STREETSTYLE

What did I wear during Day 1? I’ve chosen to wear this piece by Anja Rock, a Spanish designer. As it’s short, I paired it with some vintage high-waisted jeans. The long boots are a must have during LFW of course – so are the hats and statement trench coats.

Johnstons of Elgin

The first presentation of the night was the amazing Johnstons of Elgin who showcased items that reminded me of a mysterious desert. They transformed one of Waldorf Hilton’s halls into a desert oasis. I believe the inspiration for this collection is the bohemian style of people living in warm countries in the Middle East.

What intrigued me was the fact that flip flops are still in style for Spring – Summer 2019; they just have a string on the toe. I only said intrigued because in all honesty, I don’t see why we should wear flip flops all over the city anyway, like almost everyone did last summer. They’re made for the beach (if). Period.

IMG_4100.jpg

Nevertheless, the designer combined goddess dresses, flowy suits and romantic scarves with straight cut elements. The prints that ruled the presentation were a combination of black & white stripes (you know I have something for them) and oriental prints (on a small scale). In terms of the colour palette, the designer opted for black &white, bright colours such as lime yellow and bold navy blue.

What stole the show?

I could clearly see some trends being shown such as the flip flops I told you about and the flowy dresses, but my favourite trend was the straight cut mixed with an interesting scarf.

Takeaway: Inspired by this collection, we can wear similar patterns and colours every day. Think of the suit outfit, you can find items in your wardrobe that resemble the style and can be easily worn in that combination. Just add a fun scarf and you can change the look!

Trending colour of the Johnstons of Elgin collection: Bright yellow, navy blue, black & white.

I made my way to the next show feeling inspired by the collection I’ve just seen, thinking about the hard work the designer put into creating it. We reached the Freeman’s Hall and were super keen to attend the Ashley Isham Show – my first show of the season. It better be freaking awesome, I thought.

Ashley Ishman

Ah the glitter! Ashley showed a glittery collection for the SS19! The colour combination was bold and can make you think that actually it can be quite hard to pull some dresses off. But, that the beauty of it, isn’t it? Well done, Ashley for encouraging us to be bold.

Ashley Ishman

The whole collection was dedicated to luxe summer parties – I’m thinking award nights or even ceremonies. It’s also wedding season, but not sure if people will wear bling bling at weddings. Either way, I quite liked the boldness of the collection.

Ashley Ishman

To get an idea of what I mean, have a look at this dress – pink & blue. That’s a bold mix, isn’t it?

Show stealer at Ashley Ishman

For me, it has to be the black embroided jacket. Superb details of the jacket make me think of the legend Michael Jackson and his Dangerous world tour and his signature style.

Me and my friend Saffy (who is so wonderful and genuine) wrapped up the night with some Japanese food at the Itsu around the corner of the venue where we met some other blogging girls! It only lasted for 30 minutes though as they were closing down the place and I finished my second dish on the tube – cause my philosophy is why buy one when you can buy two?

Thank you for reading! Stay tuned for day 2 at London Fashion Week!

Until next time,

So, you’ve made it on the guest list! Congratulations for putting in the hard work that took you so far! You should feel amazing because this is a reward that can change your blogging path. As, we’ve already covered how to collaborate with brands and make them your best friend, now we’re focusing on what you should wear to inspire confidence and make heads turn. I’m not talking about being the freakiest freak (I’ve seen that type) who only want attention for the sake of it. Instead, I’m referring to clothes that make you feel confident and comfortable while wearing them.

Elegant Chic or Casual?

It’s a matter of preference, but elegant items can totally win over casual outfits at Fashion Week. Wear some elegant long pants or an elegant / edgy top paired with skinny black jeans and stilettos. You will look expensive and believe it or not people will be more interested to hear what you have to say. Dress to impress or maybe dress to get noticed as a good example and to start conversations. I noticed that people respect elegant outfits and it’s a game changer for networking. For Fashion Week, it’s important not to go too far because the least you want to do is put on a gown or a party dress. Elegant chic is what you’re actually after. Own it and get ready for amazing things to happen.

Let’s explore the latest fashion trends that will turn your outfit into your next favourite one.

 Logo Shirts

They are so trendy at the moment! I mean, they are such a big statement that no wonder they’re popular again. This one has ruffle sleeves which makes it more elegant than a normal T-shirt. Go for a touch of colour if your outfit is plain black – Remember! You want your outfits to be remembered at the events. If you live in the UK, Mint Sisters Bournemouth’s Boutique have a selection of unique clothes that stand out!

Black Faux Leather Pants

If you’ve read my blog for a while now, you might know that they are top on my list. I think they look cooler than jeans. When attending events consider items that make you feel good and look edgy in the same time.

Faux fur

Elegance and faux fur go hand in hand. This season, there were people campaigning against faux fur at FF. Not that their opinion matters, but you must know before deciding to wear it, that there can be things that can impact your mood.

Patent Jacket

A patent jacket is your best friend at Fashion Week! Oh, so chic!

Ruffle Sandals

I always go for high heels when I’m attending events as I really think they make the overall look more sophisticated.

Statement sun glasses

They are a must! You’ll see lots of bloggers and designers wearing them. Let’s be honest who doesn’t feel cool while wearing sunnies? Be careful not to hide behind them and look unapproachable. Wear them outside and please don’t wear them while watching a show. It’s unnecessary and you’ll make everyone else think you’re full of yourself.

Hello girls,

You’re probably getting ready now for your next show or presentation, but before you head to the fancy venue, take a few moments to consider your brand objectives of the day. What do you want to achieve on the day that will help your personal brand grow? Watching the latest shows and getting inspiration from designers is always a great goal to have, but what about your brand goals? If you’re a pretty fresh blogger, you really want to get your name out there and make yourself known. If you’ve been blogging for a while, you want to strengthen your relationships with the organisers, PR agencies and people who invited you to the shows. There should be blogging goals for each of you, regardless of blogging expertise.

This is my first time attending London Fashion Week and I have to say, it’s an experience that you have to grab and make the most out of. You’ll meet all sort of people, from snobs that don’t reply to your hello, to the nicest bloggers who are really happy to share with you their blogging tips (you just have to ask). Don’t take any weird behaviour personally! This is how some people are but you just have to do your thing. In my first day, while doing the Claire Tagg show, I noticed that people in the room didn’t really talk to each other. I really wanted to meet new people and discuss about the collection, our newest blog posts and exchange business cards.  I didn’t sit there to wait for someone to approach me, I just went out there and introduced myself to people in the room. I talked about my blog’s purpose (which is to empower women to be bolder and wear more accessories) and I met an amazing designer from Lonseluet who offered me the opportunity to wear her label just in the next day! Went to her beautiful studio in London and we had the best time during the fitting. We talked about women empowerment and emerging brands that are here to support them, and Lonseluet is surely one of them. They’re launching the new collection called ‘Note to self’ and it will be amazing, created to make women love themselves, so keep an eye on their website.

Here’s what you should do to kick start your collaborations:

Introduce yourself in a genuine way

What I’ve noticed works best is to approach the person with a nice hello and quick introduction. Just say your name and that you’re a fashion blogger. Ask them to talk about themselves, what is it that they do? Why do they do it? Why are they passionate about it? The more you know about them, the better will be for breaking the ice.

Have your elevator pitch ready

When it’s your turn to talk about yourself, have your elevator pitch ready. An elevator pitch is a 30 second summary of your brand purpose. I said purpose here, because it’s important you state it while pitching. We all love fashion, but why do you blog? What do you want to achieve with your blog? Make it super interesting, so everyone will be curious to find out more. The pitch should represent you, so polish it until you’re happy with the result.

Make a connection with the person

The conversation will flow really nice after that, I guarantee you! Let yourself go with it, try to lead but in a way that the person feels really comfortable while talking to you. Don’t be afraid to speak your mind and discuss about different trends, previous shows you attended, some designers and brands you admire. I got asked quite a lot about my favourite designer and my opinion on trends. Thinking you already have an opinion on the above, just say the truth, but don’t be negative when critiquing some things. You don’t want the brand to think that they’re the next on your black list.

 Exchange business cards with brands

Now, after you’ve had that great conversation, just after you say goodbye, it’s time to exchange business cards. Don’t be that person who hands in the business card in the first second. People will perceive you as a ‘gold digger’. And we all know that this is not the case! When designing your business card, make sure that yours will stand out 🙂

Lonseluet Miss Andrada London Fashion Week 2018 LFW.jpg

Be positive and don’t leave the room without talking to at least 5 people

Network, network, network! Rock that room and approach people like you’ve known them for ages. Be polite and genuinely happy about meeting them all. After all, you’re there for having a great time and get to know interesting people. I feel like talking to at least 5 people will give you enough reason to be there and feel good about the event. When leaving one group of people or one person, just excuse yourself nicely, don’t leave without saying goodbye even though you’re not leaving for good.

Be confident but don’t be arrogant

It’s so easy to start being arrogant, now that you’re sitting front row (I did that from my second day too) and that you’ve made it to Fashion Week. Be yourself, stay humble because sitting front row doesn’t make you any better than another person who is standing. Don’t take these benefits for granted.

Follow up brands with an e-mail

If the conversation moved towards a potential collaboration, follow up with an e-mail saying that it was nice meeting the brand and that you have ideas on how to collaborate together. Don’t explain your ideas and don’t send prices now. You’ll lose the person if you try to close the deal from the first e-mail. This is a conversation to have afterwards.

Make sure you get papped during LFW!

Super important during LFW for your personal brand, and for future collaborations! You want to stand out and show on the street style section online. Getting snapped during Fashion Week will happen if you’re impeccably dressed or extravagant. I got papped while wearing Lonseluet, on Day 2 and it felt incredible! I couldn’t believe that at the first time I was attending the LFW, I got papped, but believing in yourself is really important when getting ready for these events.

Miss Andrada London Fashion Week Papped Lonseluet

Thank you very much Pop PR for the invitation to the events, Lonseluet for the amazing outfit and Biblos Glasgow for the gorgeous earrings.

I really hope that my experience with brand collaborations during Fashion Week showed you a different way of approaching brands. Think of me when you’ll rock that room, making the most of your time at the Fashion Week and planning your amazing brand collaborations!

Love,
