Self-isolation shouldn’t get you all bored. In fact, some of you might not have the working from home habit or are used to being on the go very often. But, being stuck at home can be quite entertaining and productive, if you know how to make the best out of it. I’m sharing with you some easy ways to make self-isolation enjoyable that will change the way you do it.

Self-Isolation at Home – The New Norm?

Who would have thought that in 2020, when the world is at its speediest rate we would have to stay at home? Well, definitely not myself and perhaps not yourself either. Since this situation is becoming quite the norm, we all have to adapt. How you want to view this situation, it’s entirely up to you. One of my favourite quotes says that life is a sum of how we react to things. So, how will you react to this?

If you’re doing this, then stop

If you’re thinking that your current situation is painful and you’re staring to lose your ‘sanity’, then think again. The truth is, your situation is really not that awful. The whole thing can be flipped. What you get is: more time for yourself, more time to be productive, save money on transportation, moments to breathe, a positive change in your life and a moment to assess your life situation – were you truly happy before this happened? Be ambitious.

Easy ways to make self isolation actually enjoyable

Self-isolation can be quite enjoyable if you know how to approach it. I’m sharing some easy ways to make self isolation actually enjoyable that work for me.

Have a clear agenda for each day

Having no plan of action can get you stressed and bored in the same time. Keeping yourself busy with your daily plans is a great way of both being productive and entertained. Include different categories here: your side project (eg. blog, content creation), your skills building (re-creation of yourself), your mindfulness plans (eg. meditation, yoga, painting). I keep a weekly & monthly planner – a more organised agenda to plan out everything I want to achieve daily. When I used to go to the office, I would even have these tasks planned by time, but now I can be more flexible, so I’m really grateful for being able to feel less pressure. Get yourself a smart planner, it makes a huge difference.

Wake up one hour before starting work

You might love your sleep, but there’s research showing that getting straight into working after you’ve woken up, it’s harmful for your wellbeing. Instead, wake up one hour before starting work and get ready for the day ahead.

Drink hot water with lemon & propolis

That’s the first thing that I do in the morning. I drink about half a cup of hot water with lemon & propolis to wake my body up. It’s a great source of vitamin C as well. It became a ritual for me. Trust me, you’ll love it.

Prepare a healthy breakfast to kick off the day

Forget having breakfast on the go or eating late at the office. You have all the means to prepare a healthy breakfast at home to kick off the day and actual time to sit down and have breakfast. Isn’t that wonderful? Prepare a healthy breakfast rich in protein and kick off the day. I like to have protein cereal with fruit (banana, strawberry, pomegranate, blueberries), or avocado toast.

Take time to prepare for the day

Take time to prepare for the day. Do 5-10 minutes of guided meditation, do some stretching or yoga and get your day to a great start. See? You’re busy (good busy) already!

Design your perfect, most flourishing environment

Even though you might be working the most part of your day, creating a flourishing environment is key. Scientifically, aromatherapy is the art of utilising plant based essences to harmonise and promote the health of body, mind and spirit. It has a deep connection with our spirit, so why not take opportunity to work from home next to a melting wax candle that will lift your mood? Whenever I want to give my living room an uplifting smell, I either choose a Sand & Driftwood scent (Woodwick) or Vanilla Cupcake (Country Candle). I wish you could smell these right now.

Lighting up a scented candle can have the same effect, however if you want to change the smell quite often, wax melts or essential oil might be the ones for you. I would usually light up a candle when I read or meditate before bed, my favourite ones being manufactured by DW or Yankee Candle.

Take useful breaks

Taking breaks while working is key. You can either enjoy a cup of coffee / tea (I vow for my coffee), apply a relaxing face mask, listen to a podcast or read. I’m absolutely obsessed with skin care and masks, so for me, a break looks something like this: face mask, coffee & magazine in my hand! Some people enjoy colouring too, so choose something that works for you.

Exercise or practice yoga

Make sure to include a form of exercising while staying at home for at least 30 minutes every other day. Open the windows wide (who cares about what your neighbours think?) and get on with it. I have some favourite trainers I follow on YouTube for both working out & yoga. Better yet, if you have a back garden you can give that a go.

Avoid scrolling on your phone for hours

Obviously, avoid being glued on your screen for no reason what so ever. Use your time wisely 😉

Hobbies exploration

Now it’s the perfect time to explore some hobbies, who knows maybe you will enjoy new activities that you didn’t know you would before? Come up with some exciting things that you could be doing at home: English / Italian afternoon tea ‘party’, build an indoors den, have an Italian food night and so on. On the hobbies side of things, I decided to explore video making & editing while I have more time on my hands and actually love watching good quality videos. So, expect something fresh & different on my Instagram channel.

Easy Ways to Make Self-Isolation Enjoyable

Invest in your skills

Take this time to invest in your skills. Work won’t look like this anymore, with the work – life line becoming even thiner. Be prepared for the change and become even better at what you do, regardless of your career path.

Be grateful

Be grateful for the life you have. You have a home, loving family and loads of opportunities ahead of you. Remember how lucky you are to be alive and enjoy life.

Plan for the future

Although we might not know how the future looks like, it’s important that we prepare for a new economy, in a way or another. Some will win and some will lose. Use this time to brainstorm how you plan to use it to your advantage.

So, how to make the best out of your self-isolation situation?

Make the best out of your self-isolation by practising some of the tips I’ve shared in this article today. These are 100% working for me at the moment and if some of these will work for you too, then you can call me a very happy person.

Enjoy your time during this uncertain period and never forget how lucky we all are to be alive.

Sending lots of love,

Andrada (NotAGirlyGal)

Spring is just around the corner (or is it?) and I’m honestly the happiest. It’s by far my favourite season and not just because I’m a Spring baby. I’ve created a winged liner glam & red lip in celebration of this beautiful season in partnership with Notino

The winged eye has became my signature look, so I do like to adjust it from time to time. I’ve created a twist to my eye look & paired it with a bold red lip. Let’s have a look at how to re-create it. Ready, set, brush, go!

Spring Make-Up Look: Winged Liner Glam & Red Lip

The perfect brows

Let me start with the brows: OMG, I have found an affordable product which is doing wonders for my eyebrow makeup. I’m talking about the Brow Pencil by Makeup Revolution. Start by softly filling your first part of the brow, making harder lines at your point of arch.

Spring Make-Up Look: Winged Liner Glam & Red Lip

If you love your Benefit Goofproof, thank me later because this product is almost the same – at a fraction of the price. Browse the latest additions to the waterproof eyebrow pencil section.

Spring Eyeshadows

In regards to my eyeshadow, Makeup Revolution came to rescue again. I’ve only used the shade ‘Cookie Dough’ from the ‘Extra Spice’ palette and applied it evenly on my eyelids. I think it became my favourite shade from this palette. You will want to keep it just on your eyelids and not take it beyond your top lid for a more natural Spring look.

Bold Lips

Oh hi, bold girls! You guys know me, I love a bold matt lip. I’m in love with MAC’s 707 Ruby Wood – I mean just look at how striking it is! I’ve used a lip smacker underneath, so that’s why it looks a bit glossy.

Spring Make-Up Look: Winged Liner Glam & Red Lip

Don’t you think it’s a perfect make-up look for Spring? I’m so happy with how the look turned out! These three products are my holy grail for the season for sure.

Hi lovely girls,

Hope you’re having a great end of the week. Today, we’re looking at how to treat hair in winter because let’s be honest, it can be quite a challenge as your hair meets low temperatures, tends to have less volume and gets to fall so much quicker.

Stylist’s Tip

Recently, I’ve visited my stylist at the Stage Door and she recommended that in winter, it’s essential that we apply nourishing masks to keep hair hydrated, but also to use coconut / Argan oil on both the scalp and hair length for maintaining it healthy.

I recently discovered the L’Oreal Professionel range and I couldn’t be happier with the effect it has on my hair. If you have hair that gets greasy easily, then the L’Oréal Professionnel Serie Expert Pure Resource would be your saviour. As the shampoo purifies your hair, it can get a little bit dry after you rinse it with water. To avoid dry hair and as the expert suggested, I recommend using a nourishing mask at least twice a week.

My favourite mask this season? It has to be the Gold Quinoa + Protein by L’Oreal Professionel. I left it on for 5 minutes and my hair felt super soft even the next day – I don’t usually feel a certain softness to my hair after using masks, but this time, it’s definitely different. If you’re looking for your next IT product, I couldn’t recommend this one enough. Such a treat for your hair this winter – just look at the shine!

Extra help for thin hair?

I lost quite a lot of hair this season, so I’ve decided to step up my game and strengthen the quality of the thread. It was my first time that I actually used a leave in treatment for my scalp. I’ve started noticing changes since the second application and I couldn’t be happier! The roller improves blood circulation that makes hair grow faster as well, so it’s a win win situation for those who are patiently waiting for their hair to grow.

Let’s all have healthy hair this season and get our goodies at a wonderful price from Notino. Check out their L’oreal Paris range too – you won’t regret it.

What your favourite way to keep your hair healthy during colder months?

Lots of love,

Andrada

Hello there gorgeous ladies,

The beauty of being strong women stays in the fact that we can think strategically and strive to motivate ourselves, but also we’re preoccupied with our beauty rituals. I see a powerful woman as a force able to be herself and look her best at all times. How to choose the right perfume has been a topic that I’ve always wanted to share with you because I’m basically obsessed with smelling good and got to know quite a bit about these wonderful products over the years. I feel that February 2020 is the perfect time to invest in a new fragrance to last you over the colder months of the year, don’t you?

Hello beautiful girls,

Whether you’re going on holiday or not, today I’m going to show you how to transform in a golden Goddess. We’re going to bring the tropical island vibes right to our golden look. Aloha

Creating a golden look can only turn out the way you want it to if you have the right pigmented products. I feel it’s similar to an orange eye look where you’re basically depending on the right shade of orange. Before we go into creating the look, let’s discuss about the products I’ve used and absolutely loved because it’s super important to get this step right since the first time.

Eyes

For my eyes I have used this beautiful The City Mini Palette in Rooftop Bronzes by Maybelline.  The shades in this are stunning and so pigmented. I applied the base shade all over my lid (orange gold shade below) with a brush (on top of an eye pencil) and used my finger to apply the whiter shade on the corner of my lid.

Next, I did a smokey eye using the brown colour at the bottom and made sure I blend it very well with the other colours but also with my skin. As expected, the colour is more striking when applied with your fingers, so I totally recommend doing that for the highlights / white shades. You can watch my tutorial on IGTV after you have a look at the products discussed on here.

Summer Make-Up | Golden Goddess Look Notino NotAGirlyGal.pngFor this Golden Goddess look, I had to use a Golden eye pencil. This one is the Professional Make-up Retractable Pencil by NYX in the shade Gold. It’s really creamy and sticks to the skin. For the price on Notino is a total steal! I not only applied it on the water line, but also as a base for my eyeshadow and my make-up lasted up to 6 hours.

Summer Makeup Look Golden Goddess Notino.jpg

I’m a massive fan of cat eyes, so I try to sneak a wing in whenever the look allows for it. The only time that I won’t have it on is when I go for a black smokey eye. In this tutorial, I’m using my favourite liquid eyeliner by Guerlain. It’s totally worth the money because if you’re like me and have oily skin, you want your eyeliner to be high quality and not smudge. I’ve tried loads of liners before and this one is my go to now. It never ever goes wrong and the brush is just perfect for creating lines of different sizes. So at the end, when the eyeshadow is set, just draw your line as shown here to complete the look.

As always I’m wearing my trusted Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation because I find it to be the best for my oily skin type. Not to mention how beautiful the blush applies on top of it. When it comes to contouring, I have used this Max Factor Creme Bronzer and it gave my makeup that beautiful golden tone. It is here where you’re going to start seeing the look finally coming together. You can check out my IGTV video later to see how I actually applied these products.

For my blush and highlighter, I went for this gorgeous Makeup Revolution Mini Chocolate palette. It gave my look a beautiful rose gold twist which I really like.

Oh hi there. I’m not really wearing lipsticks, but I picked a really beautiful and creamy one for this specific makeup look. This Clinique Pop Lipstick in Nude Pop from Notino will also prime your lips and give you a really nice pink colour. It really feels like it’s moisturising the lips, so it’s an amazing win for me (not a fan of drying matt lipsticks in general).

This post is kindly sponsored by Notino. As always, words and opinions are my own.

Watching the rain dripping on the cafe’s window in June, makes me feel a little bit nostalgic (not that it’s hard for me to get into that mood anyway). Sometimes, I really need to find inspiration in things that surround me in order for me to feel positive, driven, even motivated. Scent does it for me very well. Besides the empowerment ‘power’ perfume gives me, it sets me in a different mood or scenario. Sensual, delicate and (dare to say) feminine, this perfume reveals two sides of me.

The Powerful Me

I’m one of those coffee lovers who love drinking coffee for hours (the same one until it goes cold to the point that it’s undrinkable), so I really need something to distract me from not spending my time wisely. Some days, applying make-up makes me feel more ‘put together’ & ready for action, but other days perfume helps me focus and find my inner strength to get on with it. I’m known for loving strong scents such as oud, bergamot, amber and many interesting others.

Somehow, Aura grew on me over the years. I first smelled it when it launched in an airport; I don’t usually like new scents because most brands want to play it safe lately: same sweet usual scent. With Aura, it was the opposite: love from the first smell. When I first get a perfume, I like to try it out with different outfits, some are made for elegant outfits, some are made for casual ones and some are for both. I believe it’s how you ultimately wear them that makes the real difference. This look says power, ready to be the queen of my own kingdom. The feminine scent really gives me that inner power to come up with a to do list and ace the V marks by the end of the day.

The Elegant Me

Worn in a different circumstance, Aura makes me feel elegant and sexy. I believe you know by now that my name ‘notagirlygal’ does stand for femininity and seductive power, but from the perspective of a powerful woman, not from a ‘sweet angel’ perspective. I need a strong perfume to express myself and feel that the scent can keep up with me. Worn with this beautiful dress, the perfume is the only element that complements the outfit. Dare to wear it!

Happy Spring, my wonderful readers!

My favourite season has begun and with it so did my on-going attraction for bold and colourful make-up! For some, Spring is about pastels and romantic tones, whereas for me, this season is the perfect excuse for starting to wear electric colours. Feeling me? Perfect – I thought so! Let’s get into the 2019 Peachy Spring Make-up Look that Every Cool Girl Needs This Season.

2019 Peachy Spring Make-up Look| Every Cool Girl Needs This Season Lancôme Chroma Eye Palette by Proenza Schouler Notino NotAGirlyGal

Step 1

Pick the right palette. Bright colours are a little hard to manufacture as they often turn out to be too chalky, especially the orange / red tones. I’m sure you don’t like uneven colour on your leads or spending so much time blending and blending. Therefore, you need to ensure that the brand you’re choosing is high-quality. It’s so important to use brands that have history in producing easy to blend formulas. Not only because they are easier to work with and look like the make-up was done by a professional, but also because they will last longer on your eyes without creasing during the day. I have combination skin, so for me, finding a palette that won’t disappoint, it’s a bit tricky.

The Lancôme Chroma Eye Palette by Proenza Schouler ticks all the boxes above. Plus, it’s very, very pigmented, which is every make-up artist’s dream. I have tried many luxury make-up pallets (from Estée Lauder, Urban Decay, Kylie Cosmetics) but boy, Lancôme did surprise me a lot with this magic palette. It has become my favourite palette of all times. Some of the shades have a creamy formula while others have a matt, no shimmer one. And guess what can the creamy shades do? BLEND AMAZINGLY WELL with the other matt ones. It’s so perfect for the Peachy Spring Make-up Look – just look at those orange & red shades.

Step 2

2019 Peachy Spring Make-up Look NotAGirlyGal

Don’t be afraid to play around with colours! For this Peachy Make-up Look, I have used the two orange shades in the middle and the red shade to create the cut crease. The creamy shade is the third one from left to right and I have used it as a base for the make-up! I applied it with my finger as it was blending better.

Step 3

After you’re set with the creamy base, start adding the matt orange shade on your lids. Then, add the red shade to your crease and blend. I haven’t used a white shade on my brow bone, so you can give this step a miss as well.

IMG_8031_Facetune_20-03-2019-21-11-37.jpg

Step 4

Curl your lashes with an awesome mascara because you want bold lashes that will contour your eyes, otherwise your eyes will look really small! I’m not wearing fake band lashes in this picture, and usually I’m not really wearing them, even though they look good.

2019 Peachy Spring Make-up Look NotAGirlyGal

I prefer individual lashes from time to time. For natural lashes, this Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Curl is an absolute GAME CHANGER! Its wand is curled and honestly I love how my lashes turned out. The price on Notino is a total steal!

That’s your 2019 Peachy Spring Make-up Look sorted. Have an amazing Spring, everyone and thank you for stopping by! If you’re not sure on a bold look for Spring, and want to rock a more classic one, have a look at How to Create the Perfect Cat Eye article and perfect your wing eye.

Do let me know in the comment box below, what’s your favourite make-up colour for Spring? 🙂 I would LOVE to talk to you!

Until next time,
