Hello there my favourite girls,
For me the whole summer dressing style relies on flowy fabrics, dreamy prints and perhaps some ruffles here and there. When it comes to prints, somehow I always pick stripes, no matter the season (writing this I’m wearing a stripy T-shirt), and I have one best friend that does that too. One day when we were out shopping, we saw this absolute gorgeous stripped jumper… we looked at it, we looked at each other and she said ‘I think we’re good with stripes’ and none of us got it in the end. That was one thing, but I didn’t have anything with stripes for summer. I saw this pair in Zara in the beginning of May, haven’t planned on buying more stripes and decided they would look wonderful with wedges by the Sicilian sea shore. I was so right! Let’s style this outfit together, shall we?
Styling stripy pants
I’m super aware that fashion magazines encourage us to mix patterns with other patterns. Well, unless they’re Dolce Gabbana pants with other Dolce Gabbana tops, I don’t feel it’s safe. Yes, I don’t like when I see too many patterns in an outfit and yes, I don’t encourage it. I am never afraid to ‘take sides’, but this doesn’t mean I have something against it. I know you know that, I just felt the need to say it, because things are taken way too personal these days.
I always say that a super cool outfit has something interesting about both (top and bottom items). You’ll notice this from the outfits that I’m posting. Here, I am wearing a bra having 2 stripes in front – which you can’t really see because of the big chain necklace. Then, I have chosen a simple loose T-shirt on top. I have found this shirt a while back in a charity shop I believe – it’s just from Zara but it’s made out of this knit fabric that I really like. So, the both make a really interesting top to go with the pants.
Tricks for baggy T-shirts?
My trick for a baggy shirt is making a knot on a side to give it a casual look, but also in this case I needed something less baggy as the pants are baggy enough. Do you know what I mean? Same goes for wearing cloche dresses – you just want to wear them with something slim fit on top.
Keep your colour palette to B&W
I like to wear black and white completely when I wear stripes. It just feels right. It makes me laugh now because I wish I could show you my outfit now when writing this post from Bella Italia in the airport – stripy T-shirt and black leather skirt. All Black and White.
TIP: Create a story for your outfit
This outfit takes me to the flower power times. It has that bohemian vibe. Don’t you reckon? That’s why I love fashion so much. You can get inspired by any look or age and transform it into an outfit. Someone in the agency once told me that everyday I look so different, and now I understand why. I like to play around with different looks and just have fun with it. For me, there’s really little rules to fashion (but I have some rigid ones), it’s more about being able to express myself and feel confident.
Thank you very much for reading and I hope you have a new idea for an end of summer outfit. How do you like to wear your stripes? Let me know in the comments below!
